Which method can make the cardboard box stronger?

Date:2020-04-21
Nowadays, many industries require the use of cardboard boxes, but they are still not satisfied with the hardness of cardboard boxes. If cardboard boxes with poor hardness are used to store similar items, they are prone to deformation or serious damage. The cardboard box manufacturer has conducted relevant research to enhance the hardness of cardboard boxes. Here are some methods to enhance the hardness of cardboard boxes.
1. Additives
This method involves adding various chemical crystals to the paper before and after papermaking for bonding, thereby improving the compressive strength of corrugated cardboard boxes. These additives include corn, starch, glue, adhesives, heavy metals, as well as plastics and urea formaldehyde resins. Sometimes, the method of chemical spraying on the outer layer of cardboard boxes is also used to reinforce the cardboard.
Generally speaking, using chemical additives is less expensive than cross-linking or other methods, but when their usage cost is greater than using methods that increase the weight of the bottom and core paper to make more solid cardboard boxes, then they are meaningless.
2. High voltage
The high-pressure cardboard forming method is also a method of enhancing the strength of cardboard during the papermaking process. Expand the compression points on the paper to tightly compress the cardboard. The tighter the cardboard structure, the greater the strength. High pressure cardboard forming also helps to squeeze out more moisture from pulp, but the key is to make a tighter cardboard with compressive strength.
3. Crosslinking
Crosslinking is a processing method that changes direction during the papermaking process. Usually, paper runs vertically parallel, and this type of box is horizontally wrapped around the box after forming, which is the bad direction that causes the cardboard box to resist pressure. Crosslinking causes many to run at a 90 degree angle to the machine direction, resulting in many being perpendicular to the top and bottom of the box edge during processing. This can increase the stacking strength of the cardboard box without increasing it.
Measuring the strength of the liner paper during cross-linking is to determine its ability to withstand cyclic compression failure. Turn a half inch wide 6-inch long cardboard strip into a ring for compression. The number of pounds needed to destroy it is the ring compression strength of the material. The combination of high ring compression strength liner paper and high ring compression strength core paper not only increases the compressive energy of the vertical edges of the cardboard box, but also enhances the compressive strength of the entire cardboard box.
4. Layering
This method of enhancing the strength of corrugated cardboard boxes is based on two or more layers; On the basis of core paper lamination. The adhesive can be a simple corn starch adhesive that produces a strong core paper to be sandwiched between cross-linked, pressure formed, or conventional strength paper.
The double core corrugated cardboard box maintains a single corrugated structure, but functions as a corrugated cardboard box. It is about 10% heavier than a single corrugated cardboard box, but produces a compressive strength that is significantly higher by 10%
Double core cardboard boxes also have greater ring compression strength, while increasing the compressive strength of the cardboard boxes, playing an important role in stacking pallets at three or more heights.
The new development in high-performance corrugated cardboard materials and containers has met the needs of users in various industries, but people still expect that with the increasing development of modern high-tech, the compressive strength of corrugated cardboard boxes will be continuously improved to reduce economic losses caused by packaging damage in the circulation of goods.
